Summer Festival 2007
Now
in its thirteenth season, The Greater New Orleans Youth Orchestra
(GNOYO) provides young musicians the opportunity to participate
in a high-quality full orchestra program. Participants significantly
improve individual performance and ensemble skills, while developing
the attitudes and discipline that help them take initiative
in their schools and community.
What? A
summer music festival featuring two orchestras: a string orchestra
for students aged 8 to 12 and a full orchestra for those aged
12 to 19. A staff of professional musicians works with the
students, leading daily sectionals and pedagogy classes and
playing with the students at all rehearsals and the final performance.
(Adult supervision is provided at all times for those participants
14 and under.)

audition required.
Enrollment
for the string orchestra is open to students ages 8-12 that
play one of the following instruments: violin, viola, cello,
bass, harp.
Enrollment
for the full orchestra is open to students ages 12-19 that
play one of the following instruments: violin, viola, cello,
bass, flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, percussion, trumpet,
trombone, french horn, tuba, harp.
The
participation fee: $260.
Early Bird Special - $215 for applications postmarked by April 15, 2007

aid, based on need, is available.
